- As the White House and Iran make progress towards a deal (2), the Likudniks in Israel are freaking the fuck out.
- The British Intelligence apparatus, responding to the Snowden leaks, is asking us to please accept the police state for the sake of the children. Meanwhile, Al Gore says the Snowden leaks reveal NSA "crimes against the Constitution." File that one away for later, kids.
- The FBI spied on Antiwar.com for six years. More here and here. All this was based on an FBI fuck-up, treating a complaint as a threat. Think you're safe from having your rights violated just because you're innocent? Guess again, kids.
- It's starting to dawn on the GOP that nominating a theoconservative firebrand for the Virginia gubernatorial race might have been a really shitty idea. I expect them to learn from this only insofar as the Tea Party morons will allow them.
- If you're like me and have an Android, you know that they often come with a lot of annoying "free" crap, care of the vendor or manufacturer. You can delete all that stuff and make your phone faster and more secure.
To the Incident Machine! (insert Batman theme here)

If the FBI was a criminal, their MO would be spying on anti-war groups. This is practically part of their SOP.

Date: 2013-11-07 07:31 pm (UTC)Some day Republicans will realize that liberal pundits who sell us spineless candidates based on the claim that they are "electable" don't want Republicans to win, so maybe we should just ignore their losing advice.

Date: 2013-11-07 08:39 pm (UTC)I think the Tea Party has done a slightly better job of picking this candidate than they usually have done; Cuccinelli polled worse than Bolling (Virginia's Republican Lt. Gov) but had less name recognition and thus more room to grow. The thing was, he was still a gamble compared to Bolling. Growth in name recognition doesn't always translate to growth in polling numbers - sometimes it's quite the opposite. And Virginia is a purple state, where a firebrand of any stripe is going to have a hard time.
After the shutdown, this became McAuliffe's race to lose. He nearly lost it by bringing in Bloomberg's anti-gun money. Again: purple state.

Date: 2013-11-08 02:32 am (UTC)McAuliffe sold the Lincoln Bedroom to criminals like Mark Richy in exchange for campaign contributions for BJ Clinton.
As Obamacare implodes, Cuccinelli looked better and better every day. If he had another week to take advantage of that, he would have won.
