• If you were wondering why all those people were protesting in Chicago, it has to do with, among other things, a deal to remain engaged in Afghanistan until 2024. (Remember?)

• SpaceX had a successful launch this morning. The capsule is set to rendezvous with the International Space Station Friday. The long flight is, in part, to help NASA and SpaceX conduct tests.


• Why the hell would Australia participate in wars in places like Iraq, where they have no vested interest? The answer is, they do have a vested interest: they need allies. More here. Things like this are a handy exercise to see what motivates US policies, too.


• I should feel worse about the Cubs losing this badly, but I'm still mad at Joe Ricketts over this shit, even if he did repudiate it.
