CHEERS and JEERS for Jan 24, 2012
Jan. 24th, 2012 11:46 amCHEERS to Newt Gingrich. I am positively giddy that he might be the Republican nominee. Here's why. I'm almost ready to give him money myself!
JEERS to ABC Nightly News for, again, not bothering with actual journalism. Quoting Diane Sawyer:
No, there was plenty of warning (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8). Forget the fact that you didn't report the warnings before they happened; why didn't you look for them after the fact, before you wrote this story? Did you at least try to, you know, Google it? Things like this are why your audience share continues to shrink.
Feh to Proposal By Pokemon. This is very cute, we must admit, but it is fraught with risk. Are you sure she won't say no if she's kicking your ass, just to finish the game? Is she worth marrying if she doesn't do this?
CHEERS to Physibles. The Pirate Bay has announced that they are now supporting downloads of 3D printer schematics AKA Physibles. The IP issues are obvious....but at the same time, one can imagine a series of Creative Commons licensed toys and other commodities. A Physible for a 1911 or a "tobacco" pipe under a CC license wouldn't be far behind. It's going to be interesting to see how this changes manufacturing in general.....

Something terrifying took the south by surprise last night. No warning, 25 tornadoes striking in less than 24 hours, roaring through 4 states in the darkness.
