• If you want health insurance to start January 1, the deadline has been quietly extended to midnight tomorrow (Dec 24th). The website is http://healthcare.gov.


• Israel demands America stop spying on them. Maybe they should stop spying on America (2)?


• Obama warns in a letter to Congress that military action in South Sudan is possible as US citizens are warned to evacuate.


• Utah is back in court trying to get a stay, pending appeal, of Friday's ruling striking down that state's anti-gay-marriage language in the constitution. Edit: The bid for a stay has been denied. Utah now moves on to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.


• Portland, Oregon was named the best American city of 2013!


• Today's one-panel from Sluggy Freelance demonstrates one of the things I love about this comic. Even if you don't like the gag, you have to admit that Pete Abrams commits to the gag.

Given how South Sudan is a Xtian lands, I'm wondering what the Fundie machine will say? That Obama didn't move fast enough?

Portland, great city even if they can't sign their roads worth a damn. No really, the so-called City that Works SUCKS at this. I have often gotten turned around, not sure where I am and I have to GET OUT OF MY CAR to be able to see road signs at night! Plus even Auto-Theft-Capital-Of-America Modesto has lighted signs hanging from stop-lights at the major roads. I drove past Sandy (!!!) at one point because there wasn't a sign. So again, love Portland even though it sucks at signage. (Really, it's like you guys are New Jersey West: they only have signs directing you to the Turnpike so they can take your money)

Our street signs are, seriously, the worst. I need to slow down and use a flash light to read them, and my night vision is awesome.

Well you and Liv could come up here for a game night some time. I don't think either of us (you and Live and me and Anna) did very good at trying to have more people over as we said we wanted to do at the New Years Party when we rang in 2013.
