I remember what a Army instructor told me once in my first class as a Heavy Engineer Mechanic. I told him I was put into this MOS not by my choice but needs of the Army and I barely knew my way around a tool box.

Know what he said? He said he was happy to hear it because instead of being a 'shade-tree mechanic' I'd learn it the *Army* way.

I think a lot of companies would do better to look for a person who wants to stick around in the area and *isn't* perfect so they can train them up *their* way. Not only will that person appreciate the job, they will, I think, be a lot more loyal and fit in better.
